2009 Western Centre Trials Championship

Effective final champs table

Congratulations to Simon Welch, Tom Hinckley, Glyn Smith, Nathan Pekala and Oliver Pekala for winning their respective titles this year.

Simon has now won six on the bounce and will no doubt have Steve Workman's seven titles in his sights. The real battle though was for second place, where John "Lawrence" Luff shot up the rankings to second, edging Henry Bendall back down in to third. Henry will at least be looking to get that second spot back off John, next year which should be a fascinating battle. Henry changed machinery (Montesa 4RT to 290 Sherco) like Simon (Beta 270 to Raw Sports Gas Gas 300) this year, whereas John stayed loyal to the 300 Beta Rev 4, which clearly he gets on with.

On the Clubman/Expert route, Tom Hinckley was a clear winner, but Ian Bridson in second edged Ashley Reed, Ben Toms and James Welch. Glyn Smith once again topped the Clubman route, and as usual with a big smile all the way round, which makes it even worse for his challengers!

Nathan Pekala followed up last year's win and took the Youth A convincingly, as did Oliver Pekala in Youth B. The challenge next year may well come from Jake Hoare, who is moving on up to a 125 and is now beating his dad with alarming regularity!

Well done to all, who won, who took part, who organised, and most of all observed - see you at the first round on January 17.
