Info - The Event:

Although ACU Western clubs have hosted Nationals in the past. This is the first year the centre and it's Youth Squad has taken on a round of the Ladies and Girls British Trials Championships.

With a number of our centre's youth riders having a go at British Championship rounds it seems logical to have a round more local than usual. We originally teamed up with TTW Trials Training Wales, who've unfortunately had to pull out, so our YDS team have found full backing from the Centre. Here's where we are with the process so far...

Where to get all the serious info - Entries are now open using this link. You can have a look at the Supplementary Regulations here without logging in. Here's links to The Championship Series Rules and the British Trials Championship's own website. Here's a list of those currently entered. Here's what you'll need to know about the venue and accommodation. We hope to bring you some shots of likely sections we've been clearing in our Gallery (Coming soon, once we've found the darned shots!)

The entry process will ask you the following, among other questions.

a. Which Days you wish to ride, Sat, Sun or Both? (This decides what Entry Fee you pay.)

b. Which Route you will ride? There are required routes for each Class if you wish to score championship points - there is a reminder by the online question of what the rules say. (We also give you the option to choose a different route, and to not score points, to match the Championship rules.)

c. Which Class? (Ladies Championship, Ladies Intermediates, Girls A to D and Sportsperson Non-Champs for Ladies and Girls.)

If something doesn't seem to be working right then please let me know. webadmin@acuwesterncentre.org.uk

The venue:

Use any internet search engine to find Rockfield, Monmouthshire. It is literally on the England Wales border. The majority of you will arrive using the A40 Dual-Carriageway at Monmouth. You need to exit just east of the Tunnel where you will be straight into 20mph Limits. Follow signs to Rockfield. Fork right in Rockfield (B4347) by the triangular green with Old Cross then 200m past the Church turn right by a sign for Monnow Valley Studio and then follow arrows.

When can we arrive? - Awaiting official confirmation but probably Friday evening.

When do we need to leave by? - Probably Monday morning.

Remember this is a working farm, you will be parked on animal's food, so you will bring an environmental mat (TSR.9) won't you? And a rubbish bag to put everything you brought back in to take home.

Our team will organise some Portaloo's.

More info to come ...

Snippets

What's with the YDS bit? you ask -In Western Centre all our clubs have benefitted massively from Simon Welch and the team he's assembled organising regular training sessions and coaches for all ages. More info on our centre site but keep up to speed on their facebook page.

When asked about your Bike in the entry process there is question about 'What Stroke'. This means how many millimeters the Piston travels up and down, Not whether 2 or 4 stroke. (The answer is in the manufacturer's specification for your machine.) If an event has to have a noise check then you'll be regretting not having entered it correctly. The ACU noise meter operators need this info to calculate what revs they need on your bike to run the check (TSR.14).

If you are staying longer in our area then consider bringing a mountainbike with you (Or hiring) because some of Britain's finest tracks and Bike Parcs are a short distance away. If you click our On Track supporter image above you'll see our hosts have worked on most of the tracks, and raced, and won events on them too.

At ACU Western events there is normally a Defibrillator positioned at a suitable section (Rider's Briefing will explain.). Look our for the Yellow Bag if you spot someone potentially in need of it. (It does happen.)
