British Trials Champions 2009

2008 Champions

Congratulations to the Centre's 2009 ACU British Trials Champions - Ian Hannam/Debbie Smith, Jon Bliss, and Steve Allen.

Ian and Debbie finished first or second in every round of the Pre-69 Pre-Unit Sidecar Class (class 6) of the Sammy Miller Products championship to again prove convincing winners. Steve once again triumphed in the rigid class, finishing off the podium only once, with Goff Hannam in third. Also in the points were Peter Collins, Nigel Townsend, and Chris Harvey. In class 4, Jon Bliss was fourth, and Ian Wixon scored points in 2 rounds. In the other sidecar class (5), Neil Hannam and Pete Pesterfield placed 4th, only a few points off the podium. They also competed in the first round in class 6 and came second. Nic Draper started with a win in class 8 and finished 7th overall. Malcolm Herbert also cracked the top 15 at one event in this very competitive class.

In the Normandale Traditional Trials championship, Jon Bliss topped class F by finishing first or second in every round he rode. Dan Sanders' 2 rides earned him 11th in class B, and Nic Draper had a good one-off ride. Nic also had a one-off ride in class C and came 2nd in that outing. One place above him was Andy Pitt, who had two championship points-scoring rides. In class D, Martyn Goodall and David Morris had good one-off rides.

The ultra-competitive Novogar series for riders just outside the full-blown British Championship, Simon Welch scored a very creditable 5th, and BVM boys John Luff and Craig Talbot both got in to the top 15 once. Craig also snagged a point in the Expert B class of the Brit Champs.

Both the Hannam crews got in to the points with one-off rides in the clubman class of the British Sidecar Championship, which as you can see, is very competitive.

And the Trail Bike Trials series was well supported by Western Centre riders. Ben Falconer finished third, thanks to a good start and the "lose a round" system, just ahed of Keith Wells. David Eeles, Steve Venn, John Edmonds and Roy Breakwell also scored points in the series.
