Our roving reporter Ben Falconer alias Bultaco Boy captured a historical moment when Dougie got it wrong and OTB'd. And was there for one of Fred's superb cleans. Watch below.
With, what looks like, only one centre resident, Fred Adams, riding this year, and a few Centre regular visitors, they're off to a good weather start on day 1.
There's also inspiration for our budding female Centre riders from following progress of a good selection of female riders who joined us for our Centre's round of the British Championship last year. On day one, they were: Kaytlyn Adshead on 41, Alice Minta 47, Alicia Robinson 67.
Day 1 Results at end of day showed Fred Adams D1-55(126th), but we'll also enjoy watching Brett Harbud D1-35(74th) and Tyler Rendell D1-24(49th), also Wye Valley's Simon Wearmouth 77(199th).
Day 2 proved to be a slight worry for Fred. He told us "Good job I didn't hang around, had to do a front tube....had to wait 30 mins for a tube!" Ben was there and said he had 8 mins in hand after the bike was in the Parc Ferme.
Day 3 and Fred is through the demoralising early start day and his score and position show the difference a later (11:30) start makes. Fred had a rushed morning, getting to the start ramp with seconds to spare. He was soon dialed in, he says "Don't think I picked up any 5's today and tried to get all the easier subs ticked off properly". Ben was at Fred's last but one group of the day and filmed a 3 and nice clean on Leanachan 4 by the gondola. And we've just spotted that Fred was the 1st rider on the Trials Mania Day 2 video. Linked below.
Tyler had a cracking day keeping it in single figures on 7! one of about 47 to do so.
Day 4 and everyone should be getting tired but we're seeing good and improving rides. This is the first day with no cleans, Jack Peace was best on 1 with Adam Raga on 2. This leaves Adam leading by 1, on 2 Tot. Fred started in 126 position, for day 1 then dropped 26 places on his early start day, then went up 15 and up again today by 8 places.
Days 5/6 Fred only dropped one 5 on Friday the 5 more on Sat but went up position wise both days, by 10 places then 2 more on last day, keeping well in to the 1st Class awards list. Fred was clearly best Western resident this year, with Simon Wearmouth pulling off Best ACU Western Club member with a finish in his rookie year and he was 54th Newcomer, leaving the win to the superb George Hemingway. Simon also claimed 72nd in the Over 40's and, of course, that was cleaned up by Adam Raga (No pun intended!)

Pre 65 Report
The centre had 4 contenders ready for 2 days of fun. (Could be more, of course depending on being centre resident or centre club member.) Above, L to R: Craig Talbot BSA, Amory Falconer Velocette and Ryan Eamer Matchless. Also there's Merv Powell on Matchless and West Glos member Ian Thompson on his Greeves.
We had an army of reporters giving feedback on Social Media, some good cleans were on video too. Results were out about 21:00 on day1 (If you had Facebook!) and scores show as: Craig 12, Ryan 16, Amo 39, Merv 48 and Ian 95. Day 2 came with excellent weather and more determination and some bad luck. Craig was our star dropping a total of 23 (43rd) over both days, and luckily keeping him just in the 1st Class awards, very well done considering he's only an ocassional pre65 rider. Amory dropped 87 (114th). Merv Powell on 96 (125th). Ian Thompson 172 (158th). Ryan Eamer (Mr 8-Day Scottish 2024) was going well again but disappointed to retire after the rear tyre came off half-way through day 2.

And thanks to Mike Ellis (A future entrant?...) for the Finish Photo.
