CHG Non Expert Trial 5 September 2010

Results: Sam Wilson and Steve Venn
Cheltenham Home Guard Held their annual Non-Expert trial at the brilliant venue, Farmcote Nr. Winchcombe. The sunny morning soon gave way to persistent heavy rain, which made for increasingly slippery conditions, for the 57 entered riders.
Regular Oxford visitor Rob Faulkner proved you don't need the latest kit to win, with his elderly twin shock TY175 finding grip where others failed.
Rob's ride of 3 was exceptional, but Darren Walters was close behind on 4. The usual suspects in the popular inter over 40's class followed on losing a few more marks.
There were many creditable rides in the other classes, with Ron Walters winning the 50/50 route and Sam Wilson and Ian Thompson 2nd and 3rd, all riding extremely well to secure their best recent results.
The sportsman route was won by Ben Falconer on his Pampera trail bike, losing only 4 marks closely followed by John Edmunds, also Pampera mounted, on 7 marks lost. Both these riders are regular British Trial Bike championship contenders and proved how capable these little bikes are in the right hands.
The club welcomed many new and occasional riders today which this event is designed to encourage and generally a good day was had by all. Our thanks to the hardy observers who braved the conditions.
