Prescott details

BRITISH championship hill climb action returns to Prescott this weekend.

As well as the British and Midland Championships for cars on Sunday, the National Hill Climb Association's championship for motorcycles and three wheelers will take place on Saturday, along with practice for the main event for cars and competitive runs for other car classes.

Overall NHCA championship leader and hill record holder for 250, 350 and 500 classes, Glyn Poole heads up the entry on Saturday, riding a 500cc Honda. Tommy Hodges, currently lying second overall in the top ten standings by six points competes in the 750cc class on a 501cc Honda, and Richard Smith who lies fourth will take to the line of the 1127 yard course aboard a 450cc Honda.

The entry of just over thirty riders includes four sidecar outfit crews, and five bikes in the class for machines up to 1300cc including Alan Jolly. The 990cc KTM rider currently leads the 1300cc class. Martin Robbins, who holds the overall record for the fastest motorcycle up the hill near Gotherington, will be competing on the smallest capacity bike in the 500 class, a 368cc KTM.

The competition for bikes is round 14 of an 18 round series which called at Prescott in April this year. The weekend also features the Bugatti Car Handicap, Prescott �B' Licence Challenge, Shell Fuels Hill Climb Championship, Y Gelli Book Auctions Challenge Trophy, 2nd round of the Midland Hill Climb Championship, Prescott Gold Cup, and Paul Matty Sportscars Classic Championship.

Admission is �10 on Saturday and �12 on Sunday, with no charge for children under the age of 14. Practice runs start at 9am.
