CHG Draper Trial 2nd December 2007

report by Steve Venn - Full Results

The weather at Langley farm Winchcombe was up to its usual tricks on Sunday for the Cheltenham HG running of the John Draper trial.

3 laps of 15 sections greeted the hardy riders and observers with heavy showers causing problems with grip, but later the wind and sunshine did improve conditions a little. This is a traditional end of season trial, with plenty of mud and tree roots to navigate. High gears and loads of revs are needed to make any progress.

This trial is always enjoyed by the more mature riders who can remember winter trials usually being like this, but the hop and skip younger riders do not always find these conditions to their liking.

This year as last local resident Steve Saunders gave a display of throttle control and the ability to find traction where little exists, winning the trial on 2stroke Beta power this year. Special mention must go to the riders at the back that persevered with the tough going to finish the trial.
